I've pinched this piccie from Bob on the Real Classic message board - must be one of the best bike colours ever. And I thought it would look just right on my Pink Blog!

Always wondered what they were thinking painting a production bike "Pink", nowit wrong with the colour, but on a bike???
ReplyDeleteLike the new page top pic, very period, just got to photoshop the Land Rover out....
That is definitely an eye-catching hue. I rebuilt a later disc-braked model. One of the last big bikes I worked on as a mechanic.Did a complete re-build including the crankshaft. One thing I remember, that was distressing at the time, is that you must assemble the clutch basket onto the trans. shaft before assembling the two bottom end cases together. I was happy that I caught that before assembling the top-end. I believe that was the only time I ran into that on any of the larger multis I had built.I remember the "Water Buffalo" as being a powerful and smoother engine as compared to the bigger Kawa two-stroke multis.Of course it was geared more to the touring rider.
ReplyDeleteGermany and America called them Water/Wasser Buffaloes, but in Britain, having a rather different sense of humour, they were universally known as kettles. (good for nowt but heating water)
